This is my contest entry for 
Life and death contest.

Trapped is the title of my artwork , because Daniel, the protagonist is trapped between reality and fiction :"while safe in his thoughts he cannot die, but in his comatose state he also cannot live". The Life and death theme has a double meaning , if you portray it literally, Life refers to his real world, together with his wife Rebecca and his sister Ariel,but it can also be portrayed during his consumption, when he entered the dreamworld, he himself is living up his fiction, and everything written in his literature was animated in the world of his own,thus creating life. Perhaps it's better to live in his fantasy world for here, he reunites with his one great love Helena, his childhood friend who passed away for a long time. Daniel understands that the moment he prolongs his stay in his dream, the fainter his chance to wake up and his hope to go back to reality. The dreamworld itself is a double meaning of death, Helena , pertaining to the good and peaceful death, while Adrian pertains to the painful and gruesome one. His time is running up, but he is trapped,... Trapped between a choice:Life or death? To wake up , move on and carry on living?or to stay with Helena in his dreamworld slowly giving into the death of darkness?

notice I added some literatures as part of hourglass blood, because it represents life. It is his writings that make him live another day, but the moment Daniel's time runs out, everything will vanish, but he can't do anything much for he is trapped.

sadly i didn't win this piece, though i truly know i deserve to win,number 1 and i believe so myself deep down, i put most of the characters here, applied the theme well and creatively deviate from other entries , in the end, i'm still proud of my entry no matter what,but according to the host, i placed one of the 4th ranks 
it was a point difference, i wonder if i made this a lot simpler and ordinary, i'll probably won, because this is soo damn exquisitely and beautifully done, - such an art narcissist-

but overall, this contest exposed me to a lot of experience, it exposed me in doing conceptual art, creating a detailed layout with a little perspectives

You have good balance of the idea of life and death as well as dark and light colors. Fine details! Good piece princess xD
